QUANTICO, Va. – Arkansas State Police Lieutenant Brandon Margis graduated from the 291st session of the FBI National Academy on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The graduation ceremony took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. FBI Director Christopher Wray delivered remarks at the ceremony.
The most recent graduating class from the National Academy was comprised of 254 law enforcement officers representing men and women from 47 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 26 countries, seven military organizations, and seven federal civilian organizations.
The National Academy is renowned for its academic excellence and offers a 10-week program with advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants are required to have a proven record as professionals within their agencies. On average, the participants are experienced law enforcement officers with 21 years of experience and typically go on to serve in executive-level positions within their agencies.
Lt. Margis, a 13-year veteran of the ASP, currently serves as the Assistant Commander of the Troop K Highway Patrol Division. He has served for 10 years on the ASP SWAT team. An El Dorado High School graduate, Lt. Margis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He is the son of Michael and Gail Margis of El Dorado and the brother of Leslie Powell and Megan Bradley. Lieutenant Margis is married to Amy Margis, and they have two daughters, Peyton and Reagan.
About the FBI National Academy
FBI Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training; many instructors are recognized internationally in their fields. Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered. A total of 55,440 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
