The purpose of the Pre-Academy Preparation Program (PAPP) is to acclimate the new Law Enforcement Officer with firearms, department policy, and a physical training regimen prior to attending the Academy. After many years, we have found that students have less stress, fewer problems, retain information better and perform required physical tasks significantly better, when they have had an opportunity to get somewhat familiar with the job functions of Law Enforcement prior to their first day at the Academy.
Therefore, in an attempt to produce a better Law Enforcement Officer for you, their department, we have compiled this pre-academy four-week schedule. We believe that this will be highly beneficial to your new officer in both training and agency documentation.
You will find below an Instruction Sheet, a proposed Schedule, and several forms that should be filled out and uploaded with their training packet into ACADIS prior to the Academy. Note that the schedule has highlighted blocks of instruction, these blocks should be considered as the requested training requirements. The non highlighted blocks are recommendations of training that are useful pre-academy and can be used to fill the 40 hours of work-related time – should you desire to fill those hours with training.
